Starting a project- new Uro Terrarium

samoid Apr 18, 2011 06:02 AM

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last posted on this forum.

I recently moved to a new house and old terrarium does not fit in new habitat (it's old and ugly )

Therefore, I'm starting a new project of building home for my Uro Taia.
So I turn to you, fellow Uro owners to help me out as much as possible, because I really want to get this right.

Availible space for terrarium:
160x80x80cm (width X depth X height) or (63x31,5x31,5 inches)

I do have some knowledge about needed habitat but I would appreciate everything from basics to advanced tips.
Frome material of side panels (glass, wood,...), which should be made of glass and which should be made of wood, where to build ventilation holes, what kind of top to use etc.
Basically anything there is to know when building a new home.

Thanks for help in advance, hopefully I can get this started asap, because Taia is in temporary terrarium at the moment, which is way too small for her.

Regards, Samo

With a height of only 5", how do you plan to incorporate your lighting, esp the UV?

it's 31,5", not 5".

Is it only me, or those forums are not what they used to be? So little activity

No, not just you. I honestly think the interest in Uros reached it's hiatus a little while back & is on the wane to some extent.
Just my guess...

The other forum I visit is also dead slow. Makes me wonder if it isn't the interest in internet forums that's waning.

I really don't think so, Torey. I read several other forums ( python, morelia, sub-oc, alterna, etc ) & they seem healthy enough. I really wonder if it's just that people have discovered that maintaining desert lizards is an expensive & demanding chore if you keep more than a couple. I'd sure like to get out from my collection & just focus on snakes!!
Dan.
