I have seen Atrox Scutalatus crosses.
Also Atrox do not go anywhere near that far north. They just barely get into Kansas.

So what you are telling me is that the diamondbacks that i have been catching in wyoming and southern montana are not westerns? I am pretty sure that they are.

Can you send one of the tail and a side shot of the head? If this is an atrox it is about a 700 mile range extension!!

The tail says atrox the head says WTF. LOL
I think the other guy might be right some one is messing with mother nature! LOL
C. Atrox dont range into Montana or S. Dakota fot that matter. If you are finding Atrox then they have been introduced by someone, to have dens of them is unlikely.

if you would read the message i said nothing of finding them in south dakota. for you info we find well houses full of westerns in the oil fields of wyoming which is only 60 miles west of me. as for montana i have caught over 30 in southern montana. i posted a pic, if it is not a western then please tell me what it is.

In your first post you said you had found a den on the Montana S. Dakota border, correct me if iam wrong. You need to get a field guide and look at the range maps. If C. Atrox are indeed there they have been introduced by someone and you just happend to find them.
Wild story. If true very interesting! But I doubt it. I have never seen any atrox north of about the half way line in New mexico. if those are really atrox then that would be really neat if there was a major major break through in range size. I am gonna stay the skeptic and say someones messing around. the snake pictured looks like a Southern New Mexico Atrox. Faded pattern and great looking. Not a crotalus expert by anymeans. all that I know is what Ive read and seen in the wild. Would be pretty cool though if there was a population of atrox that far north.

If indeed Atrox have been found in Montana they have been released by someone, i have friends that live in Montana, this is the first time they have ever heard of this. Clark

Sorry your not even close. This is an atrox and it was found in montana. These atrox were released by a man that used to reside out by broadus. He got a divorce from his wife and released all of his snakes
