Gulf Salt Marsh Snake Breeding

dirty_jarvis Apr 29, 2011 12:09 PM

I caught a few Clarkii Clarkii last weekend, set them up in a cage and walked in on them this morning doing the dirty.
Has anyone worked with these guys before? What can I expect?
Thanks,

I think you can expect a clutch of babies in August or early September. "North American Water Snakes: a natural history" says they will eat saltwater crustaceans as well as fish and frogs.

I took care of a group of five during the breeding season. I witnessed copulation several times and like the previous poster said, expect babies around August.

They would eat frozen/thawed fish straight out of your fingers. That's what I fed them until my friend switched them to pinky mice.

I shot a feeding video you can see here: http://youtu.be/V1wmF9db308
