Is it just me or........

Did my turtles grow while they were hibernating (brumating)?

I could swear one of my subadult looking females looks to now be a full adult.....and another juvie female appears to be somewhat bigger too. Has anyone else noticed their turtles going through growth spurts while brumating?

Definately have seen the same thing. More than anything I have seen big color changes occur in sub-adults from fall to spring, where they go in more drab juvie coloration and then emerge more bright yellow and black, especially 3-5 yr olds . Not any big gains in weight of course but I have had some measure slightly bigger and weigh a couple grams more, of course some loose a few too.

I have had similar experiences. Very slight growth and intensifying color.

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing! Mine are all out now, and I was surprised at how many came out looking more male or female than when I last saw them. I'm going to weigh everyone in a few days to check up on their growth.

I also notice some growth on a sub adult female I had given to my folks last year. I was over at their place yesterday & she appears to be a full grown adult now too. Funny I've never noticed this until now.
