10gal tank herbivore lizard?

trex8692 May 03, 2011 12:39 AM

Are there any lizards that will fit in a 10gallon tank that eats mostly plant matter?

Doesnt have to have a 100% plant diet, just majority plant diet.

I ask this question because lately ive been thinking alot about natural disasters such as hurricanes/floods that can really put my animals at risk, and i dont wanna have large tanks/large pets bc itll be hard to transport them away from danger.

If the lizard is handleable, even better

p.s. i know most herbivorous lizards are large in size, but i was just wondering if anyone knew of any smaller ones.

Thanks

You could have a proper sized cage and simply transfer it to a small one to take it with you if there was a disaster.

Well, ya i guess but its not like i can always carry around a 50gal tank to me in case there are emergencies. i also feel bad about trasnporting animals in small cages because it always feels like im restricting their movements.

But to get back to the topic, do you know any 10gal sized herbivorous lizards?

Thanks

There are none, to be herbivous they need to be of a large enough size to be able to properly digest the plant matter.

beardies are as small as i can think. Now fruitvoirs are a different story, but even there its only about 50% of the diet. Things like crested geckos and what not are the best for that size cage.
