Snapping Turtles Mating

gerryg May 08, 2011 06:49 PM

I went to visit my son and his girlfriend this weekend... taking the time for a picnic at a local cemetery that features a small pond as well what is best described as a nature trail we witnessed this...

my son managed a video using his cell phone while I forgot (despite standing right there watching him make the video) that one of the reasons I bought my new camera was for it's ability to take HD videos... what a complete idiot

We were there for over an hour and a half... saw the event from the start but the snappers were still at the mating ritual when we left... I guess everything is slow with them... very cool event to witness.

This was at Mount Hope Cemetery (aka Stephen King's Pet Sematary) in Bangor, Maine. Good times!

That is so cool, most would have seen them and thought they were fighting or something. We got to witness a couple cottonmouths doing the whole thing a couple of weeks ago, just couldn't get decent pics because all I have is a cellphone, lol.
