If your RF has watery eyes that means that he needs more humidity. How is you set up? Your humidity should be at least in the high 70's. Do you soak him? Your my Cherry Head's I spray them until they drip at least twice a day, and their humidity is in the 80's all the time. Low light, and high humidity and he should be OK.
Another thing....if he is hiding all the time, your lights are too bright. They like low light. I use a heat emitter on one side (over the hide) and a 5.0 UVB on the other side. That is the only light I have while they are inside. Hope this helps
Well when I got my tortoise I was not prepared for the upkeep that I am now finding out that he requires. So right now I have him in a rubbermaid tub with forrest floor bedding that is 100% natural cypress mulch from zoo med. He has a watter dish that is big enough for him to soak in but he doesnt seem to want to. My boyfriend and I try to soak him in the tub for at least 30min a day. I agree that the light has got to be to bright the lady at the pet store sold me an all in one bulb that cost way too much. We try to do what they recomended by leaving it on 12hrs a day and off 12hrs. I am trying to to get what I can to getr the essentials he needs as fast as I can. I really appreciate the help so if u have any more sugestions and ideas I am open ears. I want nothing more than to give him a happy and heathy life I am just really unexpeiranced with reptiles and ecspeacialy tortoises. Thanks a million.
