what kind of snake is this?

I am working near Canadian, Tx. And I was just curious about what kind of snake this is. I was thinking it was a bull snake but not sure.

Yes, that's a Pituophis. I'd have to check the books for the range to pin it down, & don't have time now, but you are correct. ~~Greg~~

Yes, you and Greg were both correct. Your area up towards the panhandle of Oklahoma is a very solid range for the bullsnake(Pituophis catenifer sayi).

That's an interesting coincidence. I just got back from a trip to Canadian TX looking for snakes. Bullsnakes were among the most common species I found (mostly dead on the road ).
Here's a couple of Bulls from up there -
