First feeding at home!

Just a little thing, but I finally got my new JCP to eat tonight. It's always a relief to have them start feeding in your care

That's a relief! "Safari" my 71/2 foot male JCP goes on hunger strikes through out the year. Last night he did take 2 giant rats. He's a happy camper now.

This is a older photo of him. He's bigger now.

Always love when you get that first feed out of the way. Got a new JCP here that is under weight but gladly is feeding on rats (which is much better than the hopper mice he was getting)

I'm grateful for the tips on this forum about how many JCP's prefer mice. Mine certainly does - all the offering of a rat did was scare her! I'll probably give her a few more feedings to settle in before I try to switch her over.

I'm such a nervous new snake mom, lol!

My JCP wasn't to sure about eating a rat at first either but when he finally did WOW....he ZOOMED in size once he took to rats.

I've read some people give a mouse followed by a rat at the same feeding to try an get theirs on to rats.

LOL all the more reason to get her to switch over!

Another option is what I do. I thaw all my rodents in the same water. Mice and rats. Seems to make the switching easier.
