Blister desease question,,

rich-k Jun 07, 2011 07:18 PM

Hello all,
2 weeks ago now I took my 7 year old burmese python to the vet with what I suspected was blister desease. $600 later vet prescribed anticeptic bath and silver sulfidine cream twice daily, anti-inflamitory daily(oral) and antibiotics(oral) every other day.

I have noticed his activity level has increased in these 2 weeks which indicates to me he is in less pain/discomfort. Affected areas on his belly have dried up somewhat and turned to scabs.

Questions are:

Some scabs have come off in the last 48 hours leaving open pink soars. Is this good or bad??

He dispalyed a new behavior of laying on his back showing his belly this morning. Any thoughts on this??

How long should I continue the antibiotics and other treatments?

He has a grape sized lump on his dorsal area 18in before the cloaca. What could this be?

Thanks in advance for all assistance, truly.

I believe you should be contacting the vet again, as I see several concerns here. The lump could be an abcess and indicate more of an issue with the infection. What environmental conditions do you feel caused this condition to develop? Also, what antibiotic was prescribed?
