So, I have to praise Petco....

Really Jun 13, 2011 01:13 PM

I know there is a lot of controversy over Petco, but I have to tell you all that I am very impressed with them right now. Not only are their cages clean and the store itself clean enough to eat off the floors, but everyone seems really knowledgeable.

They are also honoring their health guarantee. Since I have concerns about my little iggies, we are seeing their vet this afternoon. The vet they use would be my choice of vet if my vet ever retires (my biggest fear since he's been a vet for 30 years).

why are you concerned with their health. while you are there, can you see if they have any more, i would be interested in some at close to that price.

Really Jun 13, 2011 11:31 PM

They weren't eating as well as they should have been. I was concerned about parasites. I couldn't get enough of a fecal to be sure but the vet is pretty sure that is what it is. The Petco had just gotten them the day before so they didn't get to settle in before I moved them again. Since extra stress can cause any harmless parasites to become harmful parasites the vet went ahead and put them on panacur and flagyl for five days.

The Petco I go to doesn't have any but I've heard of others that do. Have you called around to the ones near you?

thats good that you caught it. hopefully they will be fine. new jersey is one of the states that would appear to have not gotten them. yes i did call around. i did locate a few in other areas. I think i am more curious how many there actually are and how they came to be. where they originated from

My local Petco had two of them, one of which I purchased. Seems like there are a lot of them out there, I see some for sale on the classifieds for a heck of a lot more than they are at Petco. I guess even if they are legit blues, the market will be flooded anyway.

can i ask, where are you from. I am curious where else in the country they have these as here in new jersey they did not show up

I got 3 today and all are extremely clean and blue. I did ask about their origins and was told that they are rare and were called aqua blue iguanas, The lady wasn't sure if anymore could be obtained but I was glad to get these. I also found out like Alan said not all petco's got them. the pic that was pulled up of the adults were of nice blue animals and i was told yes they will keep the blue.

Michelle, how did you get to see pics of the parents? The petco near me did not have that information. I'd love to see them!

I'm in love with my babies.

I called the three Petco's here in Albuquerque, NM and I was lucky enough to find one. The store said that they had three of them and someone had come in the day before and picked up two of them and that I got the last one.

I wasn't told they were the parents just pictures of what they would mature to look like and they were outstanding. I didn't get a copy but they were pulled from the web by the manager.
I am very pleased with the three I got, I can see why you have feel in love with them they are awesome, true gems and I just find myself staring at them.
All three are basking and eating today so that is a good sign, i did find they were a little dehydrated but with a good bit of misting they are drinking and plumping up. I will get pic's posted soon.

Oh, okay. Do you have a link to the pics they posted? I'd like to see them.

Mine are doing so much better. They ate really well today!

MichelleRogers Jun 18, 2011 06:37 PM

I will ask for the link when I go back in, i didn't ask for it and I just looked at the pic's while i was there in the office.
Im glad to hear yours are eating well, these are starting to plump up i been feeding them everywhere in the cage to make sure they had enough and not be shy. I ended up crushing cantalope over the salad and they went crzy
