The photos aren't that great, I know. My wife has the good camera with her right now. But, I purchased this girl off the classifieds on this site as a Pink Banka. Anybody have any thoughts on whether she is or not? In addition she was also sold as 100% Het for Albino. As Blood Python enthusiasts, does anybody have any problems with breeding her to a non-Pink Banka? I know there are some die hard locality guys and gals out there, just want to get an idea of what people thought about this matter. Thank you very much.

Who cares about what anyone thinks, breed her to the best male you have available to you. Select the desired traits, and cull the rest.

Also, unless you can really rely on your source, or have some form of credible information by way of the breeder, I'd chalk it up as just another attractive 100%het albino.

Most would say "breed her back to a bangka, because you can sell the offspring for more." Breeding based on that alone defeats the purpose of breeding 'best to best'. Certainly their are bangkas out there that wouldnt be the best available male, though.

These are just simple opinions of mine though, and I dont know much .

To each their own!

Josh,
Just two quick observations. If this python is indeed a het. for albino, it could obviously only be 50% Bangka at best. Also, with a select few it may be fairly certain that they are from Bangka, but with most specimens, it is typically difficult to determine for certain whether they are of Bangka origin just by appearance. Many people believe that the pink head is indicative of this, but pink headed specimens have also been found on Sumatra and mainland Malaysia as well. I would agree with the above post in that at the worst, you have a nice looking Sumatran.

Thanks DNA, and Kelly. Her being a Het albino didn't initialy click that she could only be 50% Bangka, so thanks Kelly. In other species I am of the opinion that localities should not be mixed. I guess I will have to re-think this with bloods considering that it is quite difficult to diferentiate between the locales. Thank you again for your comments.
