Question for other garter owners

jdt Jun 15, 2011 08:19 PM

Hey everyone! Hopefully someone here will have an answer for this. Up til about a week and a half ago or so, my male similis was vigorously courting the female. But I never actually seen her reciprocate by raising her tail so that mating could take place. Today when I was cleaning their terrarium, I found a whole bunch of those orange jelly bean things (infertile slugs?) inside of their hide cave. So my question is this - Were these slugs produced because the female refused the male, or is it possible that they did mate and the male is just shooting 'blanks' ?

Most likely she ovulated and deposited the jellybeans prior to any "courting" taking place.

I keep a pair of Radix together, so far she has delivered one batch of jellybeans and a litter of babies half a year later.

nothing to worry about.
