guestion about shedding

danygirl Jun 15, 2011 08:43 PM

Hello got a almost year old rosy boa about 4 weeks ago. We fed him about 3 times since we've got him. About week two I noticed his eyes were changing. Then later that week his scales seemed crinkley. Then week three he started getting really moody and striking alot. I just decided to leave him alone. Also we tried to feed him again and he's not interested. Does this sound like the shedding process and should it be taking this long?

Sounds like shedding to me. Make sure it has drinking water. Might also consider building a small 'humid hide' to help facilitate the shedding process.

Cheers,

Not being able to shed can be more serious with a rosy boa than some other snakes. I would put him in a plastic shoebox with a bunch of wet (not damp, wet) paper towels and put the tub in a rack with some belly heat to warm the tub up and raise the humidity. Check on him every 30 minutes or so.
