Red-bellied Blackheaded python?

serpentdan Jun 18, 2011 10:12 AM

This year I produced an unusual female Blackheaded python. She had a reddish orange belly. She was the only one in the litter with this coloration. I have never seen or heard of this before with Blackheads. Has anyone else?

Hey Dan,
Yes, orange bellies are common in BHPs. More often in the "eastern" lines.
Sometimes they will have white spots or lines as well as some "peppering" of black.

Hey Derrick,

Any genetic significance in that? I have that on one of my Woma females. I have been deciding what I could do to bring out any genetic anomalies that might be attached to those orange bellies (short of line breeding).

Thanks,
Anthony

Don't think so Anthony.
Orange bellies are very common on BHP's and most all Woma's I've seen (at least all that I've produced) have bright orange bellies naturally.

Cheers,
D
