On the road again....

Gov. Perry, while he did not sign HB 1788, also withheld a veto. So the bill will become law on Monday. While far from perfect, this legislation will once again allow us to collect from Texas shoulders and rights-of-way.

Good deal. Its been a long time, and I'm going to try to make it out there this year. How are they going to do the non-resident licenses as far as the stamp goes? Ladies and gentleman, it may be a small victory, but let's show them that we are not a bunch of yahoo's and reckless individuals and keep everything on the up and up, so that maybe the laws will turn more our way. Thanks for your time, good luck, and even better hunting, and get the rubber snakes ready.

Sincerly,
Jr.

Wow, I can't believe it. Congratulations on everybody'd hard work and persistence. I personally thought it would never happen again at any level because I thought there was too much homeland security stuff involved in the original, seemingly abrupt ban. Imperfect or not, it is an incredible and unlikely accomplishment in my book and I was resigned to the fact that it could never happen. Thanks to anybody that contributed in any way, and especially to those few that really put in the time, effort and money. Let us know about the details as soon as you can.

The Texas Legislative webpage states that HB 1788 doesnt officialy take effect till 9/1/11. I thought that it passed with 2/3 vote, if so shouldnt it take effect immediately?

The situation is confusing-The governor did not sign it, which usually means it won't be in effect until Sept. 1-but the law itself specifies it will go in to effect immediately. No one so far has been able to give me a definitive answer on this one.
