So I have one of my emeralds I finally got around to sexing. It was sold to me as a female, but it probed 8 scales deep, no where near the 14 or so of my male and also not quite the 4 of my other female.

Just wanted to get some of the bigger breeders with more experience thoughts about this. I have heard of females probing 8 scales before but id like to be more sure.

Typically females are not that deep. But one of my holdback diamond babies probed 8 scales deep and it was the runt in the litter. He turned out to be a she. So yours could be a female as well. If the snake is 3 years old a females shed could possibly tell you if its a male.
Also some males will invert during a bowel movement.

What i am saying is if you are unsure of the sex. A females shed will make a 3 year old male that is ready to breed go off!! He will tongue flick the hell out of it and possibly start to body roll with short bursts of movement. They will do this all times of the year.
