What kind is it and how to keep it alive

Pookiehos Jul 02, 2011 10:50 PM

My daughter found a tiny all brown frog tonight and is so excited. She is 3 1/2 and just loves frogs. It is in a small habitat (happened to have a dead lightening bug in it from two nights before). I really want to try and keep it alive for her, but how? What do I do with a frog. it is about 3/4" all brown, that's about it. He is pretty nondescript. I have a bunch of pics but don't see an upload function.

Please help!

Do I need to give him water, put him in water? What to feed him? The pet shop said maybe crickets but the ones they have are bigger than him? I am really lost here.

Thanks!

I'm not a frog keeper, so my advice should be taken as such. I would imagine that a moss or orchid bark substate would keep the humidity you want. A good size waterbowl should be provided. Depending on the species you may need hides and perching areas. As for food, check the classifieds and see if you can find a fruitfly culture. They should be a good feeding size for it. Or you may get cricket nymphs (pinheads) but they grow fast and you would need to keep buying them. Maybe that'll help.
