Easterns Have Hatched

steve fuller Jul 11, 2011 10:16 AM

First clutch of Easterns have hatched. First one was out July 8th. Last one emerged July 11th. Early on it was 1.3 . Wow! There's going to be extra females? No. Next five were all males. Last out was the final female. Ended up with 6.4 and the eleventh one fully formed but dead in the egg. Father is red-throat and mother black color phase. All eleven hatchlings are red-throat phase and appear indentical to father. I don't know. Eggs were deposited on March 11. Second clutch of four due to hatch in a about a week.

Congratulations! That hatchling you have pictured is just beautiful, and I expect his siblings are as well. Eastern Indigos never cease to enthrall me.
