Found a nest of nice looking boxie eggs. There were 5 eggs, this about the same time I found eggs last year, so I will keep checking for indications of nesting the next week or two. Nesting is always later here than other parts of the country. I put them on the new Repashy reptile hatching media.

Out of curiosity how do you find a nest of Box turtle eggs? When my female gets done if you don't know where to look you'll never find them till they come up out of the ground. I understand your incubating them, how do you know where to look for eggs?

Thanks Alan

The way my pen is set up only one side is in full sun and is deep loamy soil, the other side is gravel, shaded most of the day by the house, and has a pond on that side, so there is a general area where they lay eggs, so I look for a spot the looks disturbed then start digging with my fingers, most of the time it is just where one of them burrowed in the night before. I mostly just get lucky in finding them I guess. Plus I know its close when I see females walking around in the afternoon.

Good for you Jeff. Hope they all hatch out nice and healthy. I've decided to let mine do their thing natually. I only got one baby this year but hope to get more next year. My gf brought me 4 adults from her parents group that was from the southern part of the state. We shall see what happens next spring.
