Trouble with squishy eggs..please help

riiotgrrl Jul 16, 2011 01:22 PM

I have a colony of 7 female leos who have been bred with 2 different males....they are all different ages, ranging from 2-7 years. They are kept on tile, have plenty of hides, and have a 12-12 day/night cycle. I keep a bowl of calcium power in the tank with them, and i feed them gut loaded roaches, crickets, and all different worms.

They have all started to lay eggs....i have 2 seperate lay boxes with moist vermiculite in the tank. But all the eggs are squishy, not one has been firm. 4 of the 7 have laid viable eggs in the past, but now none of them are good. I have tried to incubate them in a hovabator at 82 degrees, but they all shrivel.

We had to be fumegated for bugs a few times, but i removed all the animals from the house for the day each time this happened. I am really worried it has made them infertile. Is this possible? If so, would it be forever? This is the only thing i can think of that would be wrong...and i am worried about the adults...any other ideas or suggestions are appreciated!

When you took them out for bug spraying, I hope that you didn't leave the tanks behind so that the sprayed stuff could get inside. Also, I hope that non of the things that are outside of the tank that you might use in the tank didn't get anything on them. Also, I hope that you took there food out also.

Since the eggs weren't firming up in the vermiculite and staying unfirm, that say's that to much water was in it. Putting it in the incubater and having them shrivel up, would mean not enough water was used.

Good Luck!
