Please don't laugh at this question but.

it is going to be near 100 degrees and humid all week here. Can the box turtles do OK in this heat, specifically my little one? They do have ample shade and I keep the mulch damp and keep water in the enclousure at all times.

Let me know what you think

Yes - you have covered all the bases. However, I have seen juveniles wind-up on their back, in full sun, and succumb before they could manage to right themselves. Nature can be brutal...

Linda, You saw my "Fathers Day" photo, well just this morning I found that little one of mine on his back. I don't know how long he was like that but after I righted him it took him about 4 or 5 minutes to get his bearings. With the heat index today of 105
I've completely shaded his area plus a cool pool for him. The big turtles dig in under plants and don't move till early morning. Keep an eye on your little one, it was a wake up call for me.

I actually brought him in. I didn't want to risk it. It was about that heat index today and will be the rest of the week.He has got to spend alot of time outdoors and is doing very well so I don't think he will have any kind of set-back in a weeks time.

Better to be safe than sorry

I just brought my little guy in, to his terrarium, for a while till this heat wave/index goes down a little.

Thanks, it is brutal today. High 90's and very humid.

ROTFLOL! Just kidding, Linda! Couldn't help myself, you see I am having the same concerns, so really am laughing at myself. I was worried that the "hides" were getting too hot, so bought some white tile sheets (a 12" x 12" sheet of little 1" squares) at Home Depot and placed one over each flower pot hide. It looks like my turtles have solar panel roofs! Kinda cute if not the "natural" look. Don't know if it's really helping with the heat issue, but at least it's something
