Mazuri Omnivore Diet for Beardies?

scaledverts Jul 22, 2011 03:21 PM

Hey,

I feed some of my skinks mazuri omnivore diet mixed with a few other things and it seems to me that the diet of beardies is similar (albeit more veggies as adults than skinks). Has anyone tried this diet out with their bearded dragons? Granted I don't think that I would want this as a staple but just to add some variety to the already included squash and greens?

Here's a link to the nutritional information.

There's quite a bit of protein in it and not much calcium. It looks similar to the bearded dragon pellets that zoomed sells.

Thoughts?

I don't recommend using this diet for any reptile to be honest. Its designed for omnivorous mammals, not reptiles at all. That and most of the ingredients are animal protein, not much in the way of greens or insects.

I never really feel pellets even designed for dragons should be used every day, or no more than just a small amount mixed with fresh greens. Best to stick to a diet of mixed greens, such has mustard greens, collard greens, dandelion greens etc with some vegetables such as squash added in once in awhile. A variety is best.
