Is the permit good for life or do you need to renew it every so often?

i'm assuming you're talking about the federal interstate commerce permit to buy eastern indigo snakes from out of state? if that is the case, that permit is only good for one year. as long as you don't write anything really goofy, it's pretty easy to obtain. many people do not understand that it is NOT a permit to own eastern indigos, it is an acquisition permit (basically allows you to buy an eastern indigo from out of state). for instance, in the state of new jersey where i live, i still have to obtain a separate nj ownership permit for eastern indigos so also know your state laws. you do not need this permit if someone "gifts" you an eastern indigo from out of state. you do not need this permit if you acquired an eastern indigo legally and move to another state and lastly, you do not need this permit if you buy from a legal source within your state. so with everything taken into consideration, in my humble opinion, this permit is pretty non sensical.

Yes Im in NYC and I also needed a state permit to own endangered and threatned species. This permit must be renewed evry year. They automatically send me a renewal form evry year.
