Thanks for sharing your pics. I love the Ortiz locale too and have a pair of them. My female just had 5 babies last Thursday. When you say swollen do you mean possibly gravid?
Ohh yeah, they're definitely gravid. I've bred them for a few years and have found that as a whole, the young are unpredictable as far as getting them to feed. How have your experiences with the young been?
This is my first litter of Ortiz. They were born last Thursday and are just starting to go blue. I will update you once they shed regarding eating. I don't anticipate them being a problem as I've bred and raised many rosies over the past 15-20 years and have never had a baby not eat on it's own. Stay tuned...
So regarding feeding the 5 newborns. 4 of the 5 ate a live pinky mouse tonight. They all finished shedding Tuesday night and this was my first opportunity to fed them. So far so good. I'm sure the last one will eat a few days.
