Papuan olives.....

rahl1972 Aug 13, 2011 07:50 PM

Does anybody know if there are still any breeders working with Papuan Olive Pythons? I have been out of the hobby for a while and was really hoping upon returning that there would be more people working eith them.

I am 99% sure Tom Keogan produced some this year.
But then again, what didn't he produce?
lol

I'll ask him today and if he in fact did, I can e-mail you his contact info.

That would be awesome. when I got out of the hobby before I parted with the female that I had. She was probably my favorite animal. I still kick myself over that.

Hi,
Im not 100% sure on this but I dont believe there is a papuan olive python.
I think its either, a papuan python (apodora papuana) or the olive python, from australia.

I'm not for sure but papuan pythons are quite commonly referred to as papuan olives. It seems that there are quite a few places online that call them that. I would think anyone that knew the original name was papuan pyrhon would know this. (wink)

I think the places on line referring to them as papuan olive pythons, are also incorrect.

They were once thought to be an offshoot off Aussie olives, but they are not. I know of one breeder in Fl. (not Tom) who bred them the past 2 years but not this year. They really don't mature until 7 years.
