Damn Randy, have you ever encountered a species you couldn't induce to breed? Amazing. I hope I have as much success as you've had, if I can aquire some of the more exotic species. Love your taste in snakes.

too cute!

out of curiosity, how long did your prasinus incubate for?

RandyWhittington Aug 19, 2011 05:53 PM

I write the date their laid and put it on the shoe box when I set them up in pearlite so I will have an idea when they will hatch. After both clutches hatched I threw that away so I can't say for sure. My best guess, thinking back from their first feeding date I wrote down would make it between 65 and 70 days at 77 degrees. As I said though, that's just my best guess.

If you don't like my view that's your shortcoming, not mine. Obviously it worked; some people are finally posting here, yourself included.

RandyWhittington Aug 19, 2011 05:59 PM

I was just kidding and didn't mean to offend you Bart.
Now how about some pictures of those leopards and ladders you picked up recently. I'd really like to see them. I've been wanting ladder rats for a while now and haven't managed to pick any up yet.

I don't post photos on Kingsnake; I have my reasons. Just about everything I work with is on my Facebook page, just request a friendship, and if you contact me privately I'll be happy to send you photos. I don't have any on the Leopards yet; they've been too busy eating (LOL) for me to get a shot of them; have a few shots of the Ladders on Facebook, also my adults.

Bart

RandyWhittington Aug 19, 2011 10:21 PM

Oh, I'm sorry Bart. I guess I was confused. I thought you were talking about us all supporting this forum on kingsnake.com, not facebook. My bad.

..it's about not using this or other forums as a mutual admiration society. I support these forums with correspondance and answers if I can provide them and seek answers for myself if I need them. I'll leave the "look at my pretty snake" pictures to you.

RandyWhittington Aug 22, 2011 10:56 PM

Well heck I'm willing to work with you Bart. Just give me some guidelines as to what you consider appropriate and inappropriate types of posts and I'll try to stick to them. I aim to please man.

Bart,
Only know you from forums. Have always respected you and your knowledge (being a Pit guy I have seen your posts mainly on Pits). I want to defend "pretty pictures" for a moment. For the last 27 years I have been at war with my wife over keeping snakes. I have never been able to keep all that I would like to keep nor types that I would like to keep. For the past 3 months, after she won the latest skirmish, I have had NO snakes and I won't be able to have any until we move in May. If she wants to remain then, I will hear no more about what I keep, how many, etc. She will have a choice: remain quiet or hit the road. I'm finally putting my foot down. Over the years, and especially right now, those "pretty pictures" mean quite a bit to me. And especially pics of Old World Rats!!!! So please Chill over Randy's pics. They do more good than you'll ever know!!!

Shalom,
Pat G-C

I agree. Seeing Randy's pics over the last few years has helped me decide which species to keep. I know all the patting each other on the back can get annoying, but some people(like myself)don't have anyone to really talk to about snakes and I can look at pics all day long.
