Anyone working with figginsi out there?

reticulatus Aug 19, 2011 03:15 PM

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone in the states is working with figginsi? I am looking to obtain a pair from cyclura.eu in the spring, but nothing is set in stone. I have to sort out something things in the new year before making the plunge.

I would love to hear from people experiences with them, find out if anyone breeding them, see some pictures of them, etc!

Thanks,

Justin Morash

were are you located. They can not be imported into the U.S. Besides San Diego, there are a few individuals out there although they keep in very private. I also think everybody has males other than San Diego.

There are quite a few in the states and not just males and yes it is kept very quiet. Yakob you are correct in saying you will not be able to get the CITIES permits to import them. I think Jeff Lemm said a few years back that the US has a moratorium on the importation of any Cyclura. If anyone would know it would be him.

I am talking about private hands. I know of several people with males, but no one in the private sector with females. I take that back. I know of 1 female in private hands in the sunshine state.

Thank for the replies!

Luckily I'm not in the US and I have a pretty good relationship with the people who issue the permits here.

shouldn't be a problem then. It is just our wonderful US government that is putting a damper on things.

Several people in FL with over a dozen animals each-they just don't tell anyone.
