I love it and I had nothing to do with it this time lol. There was allot of good points brought up on all sides, there still however are a few things to say.I am not a big fan of roundups but who is to say they cannot do it, we all allow commercialised hunting of all types and that seems fine.
Don't complain about spelling I'm on a tablet and its hard typing on this thing.

1) I see large of amounts of tos violations in the below threads, but yet the mods once again play favorites on the language and flames being used. I don't have a problem with it other than the favoritism being used.

2) it was mentioned about declines in snakes but yet there is a decline in reptiles in many areas, we have no proof what the cause is yet. Some decline is fire ants, some over populations of people, maybe over collection, as well as habitat destruction and lots of vehicle predation. Now to only point the finger at round ups is very in accurate.

3) We must remember sustainable populations today is not the same as it would be 100 years ago. Man has killed off many major predators such as wolves, bears, birds of pray, etc. Without some harvest we could possibly end up with populations out of control, who knows we need real scientific data to be sure.

4) Hunters are the key to species preservation not a Nazi Storm Trooper Governmental Agency with A Little Hitler Dictator. TP&W has done a horrible job of wild life management in this state, it has been the commercial hunting that has help correct the agencies devistation of the deer herd.

5) It was mentioned that deer and fish had limits that's not all ways correct, keep in mind specialised permits can be bought that will allow mass harvests beyond the normal limits. Is that not what a commercial limit is all about?????

6) What about trapping or pest control?? This seems to be all right to some and very well forgotten about. Fact is weather you like it or not snakes are labeled as a nuesiance just as some insects. You get the feeling on some bug forum there is a similar argument as to pest control companies lol????

7) Now one thing that was hit on that there is large amounts of animals in captivity whether wild caught or captive breed are being killed. Some of you try to justify it by saying the few animals I have killed is far less, but is it really??? No its not take the large number of animals taken by few collectors such as round ups, is that any different number wise as large amount of collectors each killing a few snakes??? I just about gaurentee more are billing killed by the private collectors and keepers than round ups.

8) I can't help but notice how many of you all keep pythons on here I didn't hear you complain about the large numbers of ball pythns being pulled out of the wild. You guys bought them up like hot cakes, oh my bad you had the animals best interest at heart and you were doing those animals a favor and giving them good miles and a climatized home in there 12x12 cubical of death you call a Rubbermaid tub.

9) I have seen so many of you guys harvesting large amounts of lizards and deer mice that you freeze to feed your snakes. Do you where how you take them, kill them or sustainable havarst. I think not.

I can only speak for myself. Notice that I didn't flame Eric or anything. Personally I don't like the roundups, it's just not something that I would do or consider doing but again I don't normally hunt dear or pigs. It's not a "hippie" thing its more of a personality thing as I have plenty of quality firearms. I think the challenge on these threads is separating the facts from emotions. I know someone below talked about roundups going away. Being as this is Texas, somehow I doubt that will happen. People here hate snakes and view them as "pests" as someone below put it. So in people's minds its like having a roundup on killer bee's and the more you can capture and kill the better.

I am ignorant. What is a TOS violation?

TOS = Terms of Service

I would guess that the complaint stems from personal attacks or abusive language that has been the reason threads have been pulled in some occasions. This appears to be inconsistently applied, depending on who is attacking and who is on the receiving end.

I find the fact that the snakes are kept alive for the entertainment of the crowds before ultimately being killed the most offensive part of the roundups. As long as you are within your rights to engage in this pastime I won't criticize, despite my personal views, because I know there are plenty of people who oppose our right to do what we do as hobbyists. I believe the intent of the removal of snakes is what separates us, and ultimately, what causes the hard feelings toward you. I have seen similar arguments against commercial collecting that I find more defensible.

I'm sure Eric is happy to have you in his camp advocating for him.

I will agree with you adamantly though that there is an apparent bias with regards to who is viewed as violating TOS.

Oh no I'm not in his corner I don't personally like round ups, however I can see past emotion and realize that he does have some points and that he is conducting a legal activity and pays for his right through his license and permits just as other hunting activities do. Just because you don't like what someone days does not give you the right to take it away, your rights stop when they infringe on someone else's.

Now that is not directed to you, I use the word you as a broad net many many people.
