Boaphile with broken heat..help!!!!

detroitdipset Aug 28, 2011 12:53 PM

hey yall I need a lil help. I have 2 boaphile cages that I bought used and they had the heat in the false bottom. Well i found out the hard way that the heat doesn't work. So my question is, how can I heat these things. I have tried to put heat tape on the bottom but beacause of the false bottom I don't feel the heat inside the cage. I know I can use radiant heat panels but I just wana know if there's any other way I can heat them easier or maybe cheaper. I have heard of people putting heat pads inside and placing floor tiles on top.. will that work?
I appreciate the help in advance.
Charles

It seems strange that both heaters are not working. Are they completely seperate systems or tied together?

You can put heat tape or heat pad under the cage. It takes time to heat through the plastic.

However I would make sure the old heaters do not work. Are you sure about that? There is little that can go wrong with how Boaphile installs heaters. The power cord can be damaged - inspect that. Check your controller. Easiest way is plug directly into an outlet to test, and leave for at least 2-3 minutes to allow the heat to get through the bottom. Inspect the power cord first of course.

I have 12-yr-old Flexwatt still going. The stuff does not degrade quickly. Any problem you have must be a connectivity issue.
