Breeding mealworms question

TwoSnakes Aug 29, 2011 08:52 PM

Hello
I have been breeding mealworms for few months now the "lazy" way. Which means that I do not seperate the beetles ,etc from the bin.

The yield has been okay but now want better production and will seperate beetles.

From what I understand-

The beetles are removed to prevent them from eating the pupae?

Thanks

Yes. How much is the yield from whatever amount of mealworms you're turning into beetles in the first place? As for super's, I've heard people getting as much as 100 larvae per beetle, which seems rather radical but it's nice to dream and hope for as much.
