I built my rhino a small ''TEMP'' out side enclosure so he can get some real sun . Its 85 on the cool side and 120 deg on the hot . Its on the south side of my home next to the wall . He seams to be enjoying it , but very cautious as there are so many new sounds and moving objects he's not use to. With my 6.2 meter i am get a 245 of UVB right now . he has shade he can go into . I though it might give me a boost . Wish i had made one last spring . I don't want him to be stressed . I don't THINK he is just cautious . He sure notices every bird , bug or plane that's for sure . I feel bad i did not make him something this last summer . If he survives this ,i will build him a sweet one next spring . I do have a green house that has a top window i can open and let him bask under even this winter .

Need to go check him ,

thanks, Robert .

pretty cool huh? You get to see behavior you dont see indoors.
He may be stressed out a bit cuz its new but they get used to it and expect it. Dont be surprised if he gets more aggressive outside and really doenst want to come in. give him something to hide in or under while out. Next spring plant some red Hibiscus and you are set! Being able to get them outside is a privilege, I think.

Yeah, he may become more aggressive outside, but you never know. Kismet just tries to come back in. She only wants to be outside if we are outside with her. Goofy lizard.

The sunlight will be good for him, Robert. Nothing heals an iggy like real sun....

Its not a big enclosure , just something for him to get some real sun in ASAP . He did eat better tonight , he grabed some watercress that was still in his cage from this morning the minute i put him back . Still shook his head but less . FINGERS CROSSED !!

In my opinion, he shook his head less because he was outside. Trust me, the issue is something with his enclosure/environment. I had the same issue and already stated what fixed it for me. Something is bothering his sinus's, not his ear. I would take him off the medications also, there is nothing wrong with him that they will help with. Like I said, two of my previous rhinos were relocated and have never shown any signs of it again. Heck, my hatchling rhino's with start the head shake the next day if I just once give them unfiltered water from my well. Don't give it to them and they stop. It is something with the environment, trust me on this one.

You have to at least acknowledge however that your experience is anecdotal and, while it may have happened precisely as you said, it is just too small a sample size, and too easy to fall in to trap of confusing sequence with cause.

your right, it's all based on my observations. I clearly stated what I did that cured the problem and the rest I stated was my opinion.

Thats one TUBBY Rhino !!

''Next spring plant some red Hibiscus ''

He ate just a little fruit this morning , but thats it from what i could tell . He sure seems love it out side , always awake and checking everything and moving from the sun to shade all the time . I decide to buy him a little bigger outdoor cage , but still small 30''x 36''so i can put a water dish , food dish and rocks , he was basking on the rocks on and off all day . He will never like his indoor cage again.

I hope its not stressing him moving him each morning to the out cage . Do they get use to that ,so he's not being over stressed .I just hope moving him back and forth each day has not contributed to him not eating at all now . ??
