You can screw with my reptiles all you want, it will bother me and I will fight to keep them, but don't screw with my dogs. Once you screw with my dogs you'll find out how quickly I can make Ted Bundy look like the effin ice cream man.
That have that same intensity about their reptiles (and other exotics). I know I am one of them.
It only annoys me sometimes to see that people seem to think that stance is a normal one to take when speaking about their dogs, but when someone would say the same about a reptile, or other animal, then they are "weirdos" I guess it just comes down to being able to emphasize with ones position, and many more people can do so because many more people are dog owners.
(I've never had a dog, and don't care much for them personally I prefer reptiles, birds, horses, cats and various other animals more...)
Man ,you need to get a dog.Its a right of passage to become a real kid. As an young adult you should want one if you want a real life of picking up Chicks, just dont give it the rest of your Burretto when in the car with said Chick.. Who here doesent long for the days of Fido, flees, dirt staines every, torn window screens, ripped big time by a Vet,puppies born on your white shage carpet, lawsuites from the mailman, and Who did you blame for not having your HOMEWORK in 5th grade. Live like a proud America with a scrached up new car that you decover has something brown that stinks on your brake and gass petal driving off to pick up a hot date. Dogs ,Mans best friend. It's about our society that has let our government get so out of control it's almost become acceptable to regulate every aspect of our lives.
Check this out:
http://michellemalkin.com/2011/09/25/asthma-inhaler/
The EPA document explaining this is the typical and blatantly dishonest bs, just like the bs about the Burmese pythons taking over the country:
http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/downloads/mditransition.pdf
They say, "EPA estimates that actions to protect and restore the
ozone layer will save an estimated 6.3 million lives that would have otherwise been lost to skin cancer." But that's just a general statement, they don't say how much (or if any) effect that inhalers have on the ozone, or how many of those 6.3 million (6.3 million? Not 6 million or 5 million, 6.3 million?) lost lives would be due to inhalers.
Anyway, this all may sound off topic, but the point I'm trying to make is that if we consider all the reptile related issues being posted here as *only* reptile-specific or "reptile community" problems, we might as well give up our animals right now. If executive agencies like the EPA can force crap like the above (which affects HUMAN lives) down our throats, then forcing reptile related regulations/bans down our throats is easy pickings. These aren't reptile issues, they are out-of-control-executive-agency issues. Until we get some elected officials who will reduce or eliminate (or at least control) most of these all-powerful Executive agencies like EPA, DOI, Dept. of Education, etc., I don't see much reason to hold out any hope.
Given the current economic status and political climate of a government who seems to care more about the interests of large corporations than of it's people, I give it about two years in this country before people's pet reptiles are the least of the government's worries.
I kind of like that quote that I think was from bill nelson in a recent story where he said "People aren't lining up at wal-mart to buy snakes". No mr. nelson they aren't, but apparently they are lining up to buy guns and ammo. If he wasn't such a moron he would be more concerned about that. I live in the country people just don't hunt THAT much these days.
I'm kind of glad I do live in the country because when it all hits I'll hopefully have enough time to get the hell out before it comes my way.
As far as the Wal-Mart and snakes...maybe if they sold them thier people might just line up to buy them...just a thought

Either way, it doesn't look good for our beloved hobby. Let's face it, if we have to plan a revolution and/or protect ourselves from mobs and rampant crime, snake keeping, as much as we love it, will not be a priority for most of us. That's what I'm trying to say. These idiotic reptile laws and reptile-related tyrannical behavior by unaccountable gov't workers and agencies are not the problem; they are a symptom of a much, much bigger problem. I found this quote on a Libertarian website, it's awesome:
"In the political arena; until we overcome the paradigm of Republican Vs. Democrat, Red Vs. Blue, and Left Vs. Right we can never overcome our true enemy.....an ever-expansive, all consuming, central government. And until we realize that those who use that government to impose their beliefs on us are justified by our tendancy to do the same, we will not know peace or liberty."
-Brent lawler
Regarding guns and ammo, I never even held a gun until about year ago. I'm a pretty good shot now, though.

I seriously hope there is never a revolution in this country.

It might not be that easy to get out then. I think the border fence was built less to keep illegal immigrants out and more to keep us IN. LOL, kinda.
