It's been almost 2 months sense I mailed my permit application it. I have heard no word from them. They haven't even cashed my check yet. I have talked to Cam Shaw and David Dell and it hasn't come across their desk yet. Any suggestions???

I ment to say in.
if they didn't cash your check, they didn't receive/process it. i would resend it if i were you. did you send it to the southwest (georgia) fws? if not, it's prolly still sitting on some local fws service desk collecting dust until they decide to forward it to georgia which forwards it to cameron shaw in florida to approve it. then he sends it back to georgia to be sent back to the applicant. does anyone else find this a bit inefficient
The whole process is outrageous...I am now on the buyer side of a permit and I have been waiting about 7 weeks, and I have heard it is in the mail, but it is later than they said it would be. I can not imagine why they treat paying people this way...remind me again why it takes so long to take our $100.00... For those uninitiated, this has nothing to do with conservation, it appears to be a tax on commerce... Oh well, slow as it is, I sure don't want to offend them by complaining. Imagine if they did not want to assist us...? This process is not really difficult, but it requires a lot of patience on everyones part.
OLO......!!!!!
if they received your application and processed it and said it's been approved and you're just waiting for it in the mail, you can ask cameron shaw nicely to e-mail/fax a copy of the application. this will usually save 2-4 weeks worth of time as after he approves of the application it has to go back to georgia fws to be mailed to the applicant. you can e-mail me for his e-mail if you don't have it. what i did was apply six months in advance. unfortunately, some of the breeders didn't come through and he modified/added breeders onto my permit for no additional cost. that is prolly the most efficient way of doing this as most breeders/buyers don't like waiting three months for a permit. in all reality, i don't think fws really likes this headache either. i heard that overhead cost of the application process is about $80 and they're only profiting $20. huntin' licenses are much more profitable for them. my personal belief is that this whole thing is pretty ludicrous and that the interstate commerce permit was never intended for this type of situation. but that's just my two cents
I sent it to the Atlanta office. I guess I'll give it another week then call Cam back. He's out of commission this week. This process makes as much sense as most the stuff our government does.
I have found that David Dell is the key to these permits. David told me that the applications MUST go through his office in Atlanta before they go to Cameron in Jacksonville. If he has not seen your application yet, you might want to resend it to David and cancel your original check. Once it gets past his desk and to Cameron Shaw, it should only take a few weeks to receive it. My last permit took 30 days. One other permit earlier this year took about 6 weeks. Good Luck!

I talked to David Dell three weeks ago and he told me to hold off a few weeks before resending to make sure the mail room didn't misplace it.
i once heard that in one instance by the time the permit was issued the hatchlings were adults!!!!!!!.......THATS A JOKE!!!!
Well, I had to do my permit application all over again. Cam with US Fish and Wildlife was nice enough to rush it through and I should have it next week. Cam is a great guy to work with. I guess the US post office just plain lost my first application. To ALL future permit applicants, sent it Certified Mail so your not sitting around for two months thinking your permit is being processed!!!!
Send not sent. I guess there is no was to edit these posts??
