Reptile Husbandry Software & Bar Coding

sstephenson Oct 19, 2011 11:25 AM

OK, I know that this probably seems like overkill to many of you, but this little project appeals to me because it satisfies my passions both for reptiles and for high tech geek stuff.

I'm looking for some reptile husbandry software that allows you to track all the usual stuff (species, morph, birth date, feeding, sheds, parents, weight, etc., etc.) while at the same time supporting bar codes and data entry. How cool would it be to walk around with a tablet PC and a bar code scanner, scan a particular animal's bin tag, and have that animal's record pop up so that you could record what it just ate or how many babies it just had?

Does anyone know of any such software? I'd love to check into it. Thanks in advance.

Steve

Thanks Mark. That's great. The "Purchase Vyper RTS" link seems to be broken, so I'm anxiously awaiting an answer to the "How much does it cost?" question.

We're currently using an old version of Vyper, so it would be a real plus if I don't have to learn something completely new. Are you using Vyper?

I used vyper for a long time. Now I use excell spreadsheets...lol! But I've considered going back especially with the bar scanner options. Talk to Justin Kolbyaka about how it works. I think his entire facility is setup on Vyper scan.

I got an email yesterday from Justin at JKR. Unfortunately Vyper RTS is not currently available. The software had been purchased and the new owner is not offering it at this time.

Has anyone tried Digei Husbandry Database?
