She's my first non-ball python, and I think she's adorable. She's a 3 month old Irian Jaya. I'm guessing she's still going to change color more as she grows up, right? Also, I've read that I should offer her food approximately twice as big around as she is. Is that right? She's sooo tiny compared to my BP hatchlings that I'm worried about her (probably not justified, but she's so little!). anyways, thanks for looking and let me know what you think of her.

I have raised all the different species of constrictors and never feed a food item larger than the largest section of the snake's body. This has worked well for me. Bill

We are talking about carpet pythons here. They can easily take a food item twice as large as their girth. They have evolved to opportunistically feed, thus if a larger than normal food item comes by they will eat it and easily digest. I find they grow better when their food item creates a noticeable bulge. I usually go for something 1 1/2 times their girth.
