GTP size for breeding

sooperscoot Oct 22, 2011 05:14 PM

Hello,
I'm going to be breeding for the first time and I was wondering what the recommended size/age is for a breeding male GTP. My male sorong is about 3 yrs old and about half the size of my female.

This will be my first year breeding so dont take my word as gospel. I think males should be ready to go at 700grams or 3 years to be safe. I was told by some one that females should be at least 1000 grams.

Gl to you!

Thanks for the input. My male is going on 3 years now. I was just worried about his size. The female dwarfs him. I'll have to try weighing him.

Males can actually be ready as early as 18-24 months and as small as 275-300 grams. I've had some tiny boys breed some big girls. Some females can breed at 800....some may never hit 1000. Hope that helps.
