Wild Illinois Box Turtles

tspuckler Oct 26, 2011 02:16 PM

I was doing some herping in southern Illinois earlier in the month and came across this male and female eastern box turtle about 500 feet or so apart on a hike in a protected natural area.

It's always cool to see these in the wild!

Wonderful shots. This is the way I love to see pictures of wild Box Turtles, not on a classified ad.

Kingsnakes, rat snakes, box turtles. Cripes, I would not be surprised to see an obscure post from you in some website I stumbled onto about pygmy garfishes! Just joking.

Still love your prior Reptile Magazine article about Russian (Amur) Rat Snakes. Great article, very one-of-a-kind.

Enjoying your many posts. Shine on.
