What is the longest anyone has seen two indigos "locked up". One of my pairs have been locked for the past 4 hours...love is in the air.

About 9 hours , it went on into the night, so I am not sure when they finally finished. Some guys say they seemingly in a trance, but I choose not to disturb them when they are mating. For sure they have great stamina as breeders, and hopefully your pair will make repeated intromissions. Congratulations on getting over a major hurdle, and I wish you the best of luck if you are blessed with fertile eggs. I have a pair copulating as I write, it seems later each year for mine here in the low desert of So. California. Vic
Copulation didn't stop until 6 am this morning for a total of 11 hrs. I'll try them again in a few days and hopefully have the same results.
I wish you luck with your pair, keep me posted and I'll do the same.
Jason
Four hours and counting should certainly do it. The longest actual mating I've observed was yesterday. Sister Skink, hatched here 2004, shed the previous evening. Little Charlie, hatched here 2008, began the parallel thing as soon as she was introduced into his cage. They were hooked together by 10:30 AM and still an item when I stopped checking at 7:00 PM. This was his first mating with any other Eastern.

Sounds like Little Charlie is going to be a good stud for your girls for years to come. I introduced my three year male to my oldest female today and he showed very little interest in her. She appeared more than willing to accept his advance but he let me and her down. He seemed a little lost. I'll them try again in a week or so.

Jason, one of my pair had an epic performance last night, apparently locked up for approaching 12 hours, I had to go to work so not sure when they finally separated. After an athletic performance starting with mignight rambling, they lay in apparent coital bliss from daylight until near noon, nearly motionless. I sure hope she is/gets gravid...last year I had infertile eggs. These indigos are a challenge, it sometimes seems so easy, but everyone I know is humbled at some point. Good luck to you and eveyone with your breeding efforts with these magnificent animals. Vic

That is great news! Sounds like you have a stud that rivals mine in terms of stamina. Its nice to get through phase 1 of this process with TWO, unscathed snakes. I believe one of my females is gravid because she now wants no part of the male and becomes quite defensive when I place him in her enclosure. Now the waiting begins....keep your fingers crossed and I'll do the same.
Do you or anyone else have any pregnancy tips regarding temps, diet, exercise, etc. Its always nice to get advice from experienced breeders. Thanks and good luck to all during the dry breeding season - Jason
Hey Vic My couperi have finally commenced breeding in ernest. We have been having wonderful(for Dry breeding)cool weather. The male you produced is ready to go too. He will have to wait another year though.

I had a pair that was locked up once for close to 24 hours. That boy fathered some awesome clutches for us. Unfortunately I lost him along with all my other Indigos, Cribos, and Ball morphs last year during the tornado.
