OT Green Color Morph Comparison Project

Really Nov 09, 2011 08:21 AM

I am posting here as well as in the Green Iguana forum because I know some of you have color morph greens and those of you tend to post more here than on the green iggy list for some reason.

I'm always sending my friend Jill, who works with wild igs, pics of Tazumal with every little worry I have. She suggested that I keep track of his color changes related to humidity, temperature, hydration, stress etc. So, I am looking for pictures of the iguanas of other people with various color morphs (reds, blues, albino, etc. and normals for comparison)if your iggy has any issues, as well as when it is happy and healhy. Taz is around six months old now and I'm trying to keep track of all of his color changes too as he loses some of his baby markings (his white stripe just disappeared).

But, I especially need pictures if someone's iggy gets frightened by something and gets stress lines, or if somehow your environment gets too dry or whatever. Just anything both normal and abnormal so I can start a database. Obviously I wouldn't want you to do anything to make your iggy uncomfortable but perhaps some of you might have pictures from early on, back in the days when so many of us make mistakes with our first iguanas. And also, sometimes things just happen like the other day when something (I still don't know what) spooked Tazumal.

I would really like to start a data base of pictures of all of the morphs too. There is so little out there of what is "normal" for the morphs that it would really be helpful to current and future keepers of these morphs to keep a start a data base so we know what is normal and what isn't. I also have pictures I plan to use from when Arwen got sick.

Since I'm looking for a project to help me with my pseudo empty nest syndrome, I could do this if I get enough information. (It's pseudo empty nest because E is still living at home but she is in college and not home a lot. Since we homeschooled I was with her 24/7 and this is a big adjustment). I'm going to post this on the other iggy lists too.

Maybe people who are interested in participating to PM me and then I could send any of you my email address so you can send me notes and pictures?

Anyone else interested or is this a stupid idea?

I like to point out that his nails came off when he was climbing the wire cage and has since grown back. He is no longer with me because I became too sick to take care of him and has grown three times that of the pictures.
