Nuclear Meltdown to normal sand boa breeding what will the babys be

nice normals.

It's a little complicated. Regardless of what you might have read, heard, or my have been told, neither "nuclear" nor "Dodoma flame" are simple recessive, or co-dominant traits. Nuclear is a line-bred trait that has been selected over many many generations for really high orange color. Dodoma on the other hand is a locality that naturally produces animals with reduced patterns, little tipping and clean colors (both yellow and orange).

Since they are not simple recessive traits you can't predict what the offspring of a so-called Nuclear Meltdown to normal will be. For example, if a nuclear was recessive you could breed it to a normal to produce hets, then you could breed those hets and, if you produce enough offspring 1/4 would be nuclear.

But line-bred traits are different. If you breed a nuclear to a normal you will probably get animals that are somewhere in between. In other words, they would look more nuclear-like than a normal, but more normal than a nuclear. This does not mean it is co-dominant anymore than adding blue paint to yellow paint and getting green paint means that blue and yellow paint are co-dominant; try as you might you will never get the same blue or yellow out of this green paint. Of course you can backcross and make the green go away by adding more blue or yellow.

The same thing is true for nuclear and dodoma. If you breed them to anything else you will not have a nuclear or a dodoma, but you an get that nuclear or dodoma look by backcrossing them to the parents, or selective breeding their offspring again.

So, Nuclear Meltdown to normal will probably make some really nice babies.

Vinny.. that was an excellent response.. and you're quite right.. Neither Dodoma Flames nor my Nuclear line are really morphs at all... Dodoma is a natural occuring phenotype and Nuclears are the result of me line breeding for the brightest orange for over 2 decades

Nuclears bred to normals produce a blended outcome, usually yielding few as nice as the Nuclear parent
