what ratio for this size tub? mouse rack

adamjeffery Nov 12, 2011 02:02 PM

im building a mouse breeding rack using petmate large litter pans.
they are 18.5 x 15.3 x 5.3
i was planning on putting 1.5 per tub but was thinking i might be able to put more. just not sure if thats wise or not.
any opinions would be appreciated.

I personally wouldn't put more than 1.4 in something that small. Overcrowding mice will result in breeding complications, mothers eating their babies and the adults killing eachother.

I have had mice colonies as large as 1.12 in cat pans with no issues other than having to relocate babies to bins with apropriate sized pinks, fuzz.... ect.So they can compete for food. Currently have 120 colonies that i set up 1.8, and 40 other colonies at 1.12. Can have issues with population density once the young get to hopper size.
