Checking substrate temps

THUMPER1904 Dec 04, 2011 03:32 AM

Right now I'm using an accurite thermometer/ hygrometer with temp probe. Should I just bury the probe into the substrate or is there some other method used. I also have a temp gun but usually use it to check the surface temps of the basking sights.

You can use your temp gun to measure substrate temps. If you want to know deeper temps, dig for them.

There are also probe thermometers available with a steel probe, like 5" long, that are meant to insert into the substrate, whatever it may be.
