hey guys, I just started with snakes and this guy is my first, Hes real docile, quickly fell in love. but i dont know alot about his history.. he jus shed for the first time in my 3 months of owning him, he measures jus over 3 ft. I guess this makes him semi-adult right? watching him in his tank makes wanna get more. I believe hes just a regular jungle carpet but could be a cross, Im not experienced enough to tell the difference. maybe someone out there can tell by the pics..
-thanks-

Hey, he / she is pretty! Looks like a normal Jungle Carpet python to me. Mine was that size when I got him. Now he's close to 8 feet long an @8 years old. Is your eating rats? might want to get him on rats if not or it will be tough to feed a 6-8 footer bunch of mice at a time. this is an older photo of "Safari"

Oh, here's a more current photo of my JCP.

He looks real healthy, I like that name too. mine is a male as well, his names "Bap", unfortunately he eats F/K mice, was it hard to switch Safari over to rats? I thought about baby chicks, but morally it just doesn't seem right. not sure, do u start with rat pups? also did Safari start out bright yellow and turn that more brownish color? I hope Bap stays yellow, but after seeing your 8yr old JCP, I'm not so sure anymore..oh well ill still love him if he dulls out.
-thanks

Safari looked like yours when I first got him then dulled out as he got bigger. He has yellow tipping in the black an black tipping in the yellow. He's still very pretty to me thou. He was eating F/T adult mice. One day I got a rat same size as the mouse an tried it. He didn't want it at first. Grabbed it like always then spit it out an had this look on his face like "That's not a mouse!" He eventually took to rats an when he did he ZOOMED in size. He's very docile with handling.
