BT Cribo Maturity/Coloring?

Skyrun75 Dec 10, 2011 02:23 PM

I was wondering when or if I should expect to see noticeable color contrast between my healthy and robust 7 month old male’s tail and the rest of his body? I purchased my first dry from a breeder who prides himself in producing Cribo's with jet black tails. I love this eating machine and apologize for being superficial, but right now he’s the same uniform dark green with slightly darker striations of green on his body as newborn. Only black or dark for that matter are the typical head and neck. Could there be variations within a clutch or am I as impatient as I suspect? Thanks!

In my humble experience green and black hatchlings stay green and black as adults. Pure black tail hatchlings hatch with a solid black tail.
Here is a example of a clean bodied non marked belly 2 month old hatchling with a solid black tail. These took me over 5 years to find the best wild caught stock to breed.

Thank you! Not what I was hoping to hear. Ironically, that very photo is what sparked my initial concern. I was indeed hoping for that gold and distinct black. Oh well. Thanks again.

For those of you who have not seen Alan's animals
First hand, It is a sight to behold. His hatchlings
are large and healthy. It is very hard to believe
that so many animal are that well maintain
And produced by one person !

The hardest part of seeing Alan's Dry collection ,
It is hard to wrap your mind around it. You
Have to see it to believe !
