Great little tub at DG

HerpZillA Dec 19, 2011 07:04 PM

1st Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all. Recently I bought some hognose. I had some years ago and decided to get a few. I was at a dollar General and saw these little clip boxes. $2.50 with a great lids. Outstanding for babies with or without a rack. These are not in the Tupperware area at my stores. They are in an odd place so hunt around.

Take care and have a safe Holiday

GONE FISHING!!!

I go every week and make a run of all the DG stores near here cause they only carry 5 a week! I use them for all my fresh hatchlings. They are the perfect size. I also buy the disposable water dishes at Superior shiping, and cut the hole bigger, they are a perfect fit!

My local store is ordering me 24. I missed out of the old workforce tubs years back, so this time I want to get a nice supply while I can without having to have them shipped.

Do they come in a box of 24? Jeff Cochran actually tuned me on to these earlier this year, and suggested the same thing. I probably should do that they were 2 dollars and now there 2.50 each. The larger size would be perfect for someone making their own rack too!

I believe they are in cages of 6 for the small clip box #1961.
They also make a large one I have not seen in person I wish I could find. the size is border line for hognose, but just because they are handy and cheap I might get some if the lid is as good as the small for securing snakes. We all know the larger the tub the easier for the lid to be lifted. and not to many of these tubs are really made for snake. If you find the larger clip box in a store please let me know.

I have not had herps for a few years, I just happen to get some hognose babies. My wife missed seeing pinkies in the freezer!

Neat photo of a family feeding frenzy! I guess whoever finishs first gets the last pinkie!

Tom I have seeen the next size larger ones in my area. The lids are very sturdy and they look just as good as the little ones. You should be able to have them order them for you also.

i bought one of the large ones at home depot to bring home and see how well it works. very sturdy. my problem is with my water bowls. its so short that there isnt a lot of room for the snake to get to the water with the bowls i already have. id have to use a different bowl for it to work. i have not yet looked to see what was available.

I'm sure a lower water dish can be found. most times I use things not even meant as water dishes. I love to hit marcs or other close out stores for stuff like that. I may have to scope out HD too, thanks
