HSUS and reptiles

mpollard Dec 22, 2011 01:43 PM

This is copied directly off the website Humanewatch.info (not to be confused with Humanewatch.org). This site tries to explain and defend the HSUS on a variety of issues. This is where they clearly state that is a GOAL of the HSUS to END ALL REPTILE OWNERSHIP. So when reptile hobbyist that are keeping herps that are not being specifically targeted by any current HSUS backed initiaties, they need to be made to understand that THEY SOON WILL BE! If the HSUS is successful in banning the big or hot stuff, it will only give them traction and momentum to expand the "banned" list until all reptile ownership is illegal.

If it happens, we'll have noone but ourselves to blame; as they've spelled it out for us, it is their STATED GOAL.

In their own words:

"HSUS opposes private ownership of endangered species, undomesticated animals, and all reptiles. While most people agree with banning ownership of endangered species, the other two issues generate fury among reptile breeders and sellers. Although HSUS opposes ownership of reptiles, they do not oppose the ownership of all pets. You can read more about the HSUS opposition to ownership of non-domesticated animals..."

Please, encourage all your herper and herper-freindly contacts to be actively involved in the fight against the HSUS and their anti-reptile agenda! It's not just the big 5 or the hot stuff at risk, your corn snakes, beardies, dart frogs and torts may only be one or two HSUS intitatives away from being outlawed!

Has anyone went on to the HSUS website and listened to their "HumaneTalk" radio podcast with Wayne Pacelle and Tracie Hotchner from DogTalk and CatChat? Go to the link below and look for episode 15 on exotic animals. WP and TH essentially equate reptile keepers and breeders as being one in the same as "pimpers of 12 ear old girls".

Go listen to it, if you are not prone to rises in blood pressure ensuing from epic levels of ignorance.
