Why is it so hard to find good anatomy data??
My question is this, do the ear openings also act as additional breathing passages??

No.... Definitely not!
Like I said, no anatomy data seems to exist.
In many species, there is a canal leading to the throat connecting to the ears for equilibrium, and some people (gasp poor comparison) can blow smoke out their ears.
Is there any site, book or otherwise where I can get detailed anatomical details of Savs or any other monitor.
I really want to know what goes on inside, Physiology is a fascination of mine.
The more I know, the better.

You must understand that the Savannah monitor is just another species of Varanid, nothing unique about it whatsoever, internally or externally.
I have many scientific papers, many books, I`m sure amongst them there are details (photos) on anatomy, just can`t think of any off the top of my head? I will definitely look in the next day or two, and get back to you.
But no, they cannot breath or blow smoke through their ears to the best of my knowledge... If I`m wrong about the latter in particular, I`m giving up and joining a monastery, even though I`m not religious....
Looking forward to any data you can recommend.
