Swiss Webster or ICR mouse strains.

Alejandro45 Dec 31, 2011 12:20 PM

Hello guys

I am looking for either of the high production strains of Swiss webster or ICR. Does anyone have them in private collections? I have been calling so many lab companies only to get the same answer "we only sell to universities and scientific companies"

If anyone has them or atleast can point me in the right direction.

Thanks fellas

Alejandro

I breed Swiss Websters.
You should be able to locate some locally at a reptile expo.

Good Luck in your search!

Hey Mike

unfortunatly I have not seen any special strains of mice available at expo's.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I will still be on the look out.

Curious why you are interested in the ICR strain over the CF strains? Also, Swiss Webster's are a fairly small strain and have a pretty small relative adult size.

Hi Kelly

I did not know Swiss Websters were a small strain, but that is interesting it would make them a little cheaper to keep in terms of food and water.

the ICR outbred strains are the only other mice strain I heard that produce alot of young.

the mice I have now are the pet store kind with mix colors and produce 4-5 young at a time.

Is the CF strain more available?

Any facility that sells ICR strains will most likely have a CF strain available as well. The CF's will typically produce 10 to 12 young per litter and do quite well in about any type of setup. They are also about the size of the ICR's being about 25% larger than the Swiss Webster.
