There NEEDS to be a Major reptile conference very soon, that all of us can attend, to address the Ban and other negative upcoming issues! USARK needs to be there and we need to fight back. We need someone to LEAD THIS FIGHT......who's it going to be???

There has to be something that can be done. We need somebody that is a MAJOR FORCE in the reptile Industry that can lead a fight. This needs to be viewable on the internet and advertised EVERYWHERE by EVERYONE !

This fight will cost money. Donations should be made.

Would USARK be the entity to accomplish this? I do not know, maybe.

Even though the Ban just happened, we need to be on top of this. If not it is only going to get worse. Some may say, don't jump the gun just yet. I say we must act immediately!

Sincerely,

Karl Buckler

I agree. The proverbial foot is in the door now. It won't be long before ownership is restricted/denied in all states (already done in a few states). With the little bit of "good intentions" on curbing the problem in Florida you see what has already happened with the federal ruling. Logically will this stop the problem in FL? Not likely. So the question tugs at the back of my mind; what was the real reason for passing this large constrictor law?
If nothing is done now it will appear that reptile keepers, breeders, etc are apathetic and thus the thinking will be... "We restricted some of their basic rights, maybe we can try for more." If you doubt it then you need to catch up on American history.

Karl,
A conference will be extremely expensive to set up, and 60 days is certainly not a realistic time frame. Trust me. I attend many many meetings each year and they take up to or above a year to set up and promote.

I have a question to ask here: How many people on this subsection of the forum support USARK financially? This fight is not free. It costs a lot of money. So, how many of you have joined USARK or sent in donations? A list of people would be good. Lets see what support is here for the only organization that is making an effort to save your hobby/business.

Also, who else is going to join this fight? What other organization. In the recent 4 to 5 years I am yet to see anyone make any kind of standing.

Bob Ashley and Brian Potter have already scheduled the second legal summit for Tinley Park in March. It will include friday night legal talks, legal talks thru out the show as well as the usual auction to raise money as it always has.
